Hopkinton Police arrest two after guns and drugs found during traffic stop

HOPKINTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Hopkinton Police Department said it arrested two men after discovering illegal guns, drugs, and other items during a motor vehicle stop.

Around 6 p.m. on Jan. 26, police conducted a traffic stop on Main Street.

Officers discovered that the driver, 22-year-old Julien Santiago, of North Providence, had an active warrant out for his arrest in West Warwick, and took him into custody.

Police then discovered a loaded pistol inside an open backpack in the vehicle, and ordered the passenger out of the vehicle.

While exiting the vehicle, 20-year-old Javier Campuzano, of Providence, allegedly dropped a loaded 3D printed pistol, and was taken into custody.

During the stop, police also seized a loaded rifle, marijuana, scales, packaging equipment, and about $1,600.

Santiago was charged with possession of a firearm while delivering a controlled substance, carrying a pistol or revolver without a license, two counts of possession of a firearm by certain persons prohibited, loaded weapon in a vehicle, two counts of large capacity feeding devices prohibited, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and conspiracy.

Campuzano was charged with possession of a firearm while delivering a controlled substance, carrying a pistol or revolver without a license, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a ghost gun, and conspiracy.
