PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A 134-year-old atlas from the horse-and-buggy era is adding more drama to Rhode Island’s debate over installing truck tolls to pay for road and bridge repairs.
State Rep. Patricia Morgan is complaining that the administration of Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo sent 1882 maps of Providence and nearby towns in response to Morgan’s public records request for information about the 10-year public works plan.
The atlas was included in a box of documents provided to the West Warwick Republican earlier this month because it had been attached to an email sent by the state’s chief civil engineer in the fall.
Morgan said Wednesday she’s upset she received 19th century maps but not the proposed locations of truck toll gantries or the local roads that truckers might use to avoid them.
