Hotel Providence continues free Christmas stays for family of hospital patients

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- It is incredibly difficult having a family member in the hospital, but it is especially challenging during the holidays. Hotel Providence continues to bring joy to those families, by offering free hotel rooms to keep relatives close during Christmastime.
“The goal is to make sure everyone sees their family during the holidays,” said Tom Anderson, General Manager of Hotel Providence.
For the 6th year in a row, Hotel Providence will offer free room to the family of patients at local hospitals. The initiative will run from December 24th-26th.
Linchris Hotel Corporation, the managing company of Hotel Providence, oversees 29 hotels across the nation. All of which, in their 36 years of business, have offered this seasonal special. Ever since joining the corporation in 2016, Hotel Providence has brought joy in a time of anxiety for many.
“Usually it’s just less stressful for them,” said Anderson. He continued, “Holidays can be very stressful and if we can take one little part of it off their back, to be able to be with their loved ones, that’s definitely enough for us to spread holiday joy.”
The offer is extended to families at Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Women and Infants Hospital, and Miriam Hospital. All of the hospitals working in conjunction with the hotel are within minutes by car.
Anderson explained COVID has thinned the number of families involved, saying they usually host 3-5 families during non-COVID years. He explained, “Last year, there wasn’t as many with everything going on, but this year I know we have at least one and we’re looking forward to hosting a couple more.”
Families of patients can inquire management of one of the four Providence Hospitals, or contact Hotel Providence Directly for a place to stay near family this holiday season
