Hundreds still without power in Hopkinton, full restoration expected for Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

HOPKINTON, R.I. (WLNE)- Generators and chainsaws woke up the Hope Valley neighborhood of Hopkinton in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Henri.

But one of the most memorable sounds for a young resident named Colton was the noise made by this tree that fell in his backyard.
“The tree went yeet then boom!” Colton said.
Strong winds caused a large pine tree to snap at the base of the trunk last night and fall in Colton and his mother Crystal’s backyard.
One of many trees to fall in the area.
“This is a solid tree, it’s not rotted…so this one shocked me,” Crystal Dauphinais said.
The impact, caused severe damage to Crystal’s fence.
“It’s only a couple of years old so looks like we’re going to have to put up a new one.”
Her pool could be damaged as well.
The tree fell just inches from the water.
“There’s probably a hole that’s three feet down into the ground right now so hopefully it missed the water lines.”
While the damage will take days to fully clean up Crystal said she’s thankful the tree fell where it did.
“At least it didn’t hit the house, we’re safe so that’s really all that matters at this point,” Dauphinais said.
At its peak, the storm caused outages for 90% of Hopkinton residents.
Marc Antaya was one of many residents still in the dark Monday afternoon.
He said his power has been going in and out since Sunday.
“They then re stored power for a few hours then we lost power again early afternoon and it’s been out ever since. National Grid says the power was going to be back around 3 p.m. but I find that optimistic,” Antaya said.
As of 11 p.m. Monday night, more than 600 Hopkinton residents are still without power.
Full power restoration isn’t expected in Hopkinton until Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.
