ICE agents apprehend Brazilian man facing sex crime charges

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it apprehended a Brazilian man living in the country illegally facing sex crime charges.

On April 8, ICE agents arrested 47-year-old Cristiano Schneider Capdevila Croxato during a traffic stop in Fall River.

According to ICE, Schneider was convicted of assault and battery on a family or household member on Nov. 19, 2024.

Additionally, ICE said Schneider was arraigned for violation of an abuse prevention order on March 29, 2024; receiving a stolen motor vehicle and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years or older on May 20, 2024; and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years or over on July 12, 2024.

ICE said Schneider has an open restraining order, as well as a closed one. He is on active probation until Nov. 18, 2025 with the Fall River District Court.
