Improving Weather Thursday

The spicy cold front from Wednesday evening will take its’ time leaving the Cape this morning. As it continues out to sea to the east this morning, we will clear the clouds and drop the mugginess by midday. Thursday afternoon will be pleasant, comfortable and dry with highs in the mid-70s. Overnight tonight skies will be clear and temperatures will drop into the 50s. Friday will be dry with increasing clouds and cooler temperatures near 70 for the afternoon. Clouds building in from the east through the day on Friday are due to the approach of Hurricane Lee. A TROPICAL STORM WATCH is in effect for all coastal counties of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Here we will find increasing winds, peaking at 30-45 mph on Saturday morning with higher gusts on the Cape and Nantucket. Rain is also expected Saturday and locally heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding. Storm sure up to 4 ft is expected on the Cape and Nantucket as well. Lee will pass us by to the east, but the track will determine just how far west the highest of effects will be. Rhode Island and Bristol County, MA will likely be spared the extreme impact expected on the Cape as winds and rain will be far less the further west we go. Now would be the time to plan. Flashlight batteries and even glow sticks are helpful should we lose power. Refill prescriptions that may be empty this weekend, clear storm drains outside if clogged with debris, secure or put away outdoor items that may be lofted in wind gusts, complete errands now or plan them for Sunday. We will of course keep you updated on the situation with Hurricane Lee, so please check back often as we get closer to the weekend.
