Incoming cold to set the stage for weekend winter storm

Peak of sunshine this afternoon with chilly temperatures.  Otherwise, mostly cloudy skies today with morning passing light snow showers.  This is in part courtesy of an offshore storm and an approaching cold front.  Temperatures today remain seasonable in the low-40s.  After the front passes, it’ll all change and become much colder tonight with lows around 20.  Dry overnight into tomorrow.  Friday morning features wind chill values around 10 with sunshine.  Clear skies will prevail throughout the day with temperatures climbing into the mid-30s.  Quiet weather into Saturday with increasing clouds Saturday in the upper 30s.  The coastal storm is expected to begin to impact our region by Saturday night through Sunday first part of the night.  As of now, confidence is increasing for widespread snow, especially Northwest of I-95 corridor.  The uncertainty still lies with exact track, intensity, and where the rain/snow line will set up.  Wherever that is, that’s where we could see more of a potential of power outages due to the strong gusty winds and heavy snow.  Attention commuters, road are expected to be treacherous.  Expect changes as the storm draws closer.  Stay tuned…

While we continue to monitor the weekend storm, cannot disregard the next storm.  We could see heavy rain and strong winds by the middle of next week.  This could lead to power outages and potential for flooding due to the rain but also snow melt because temperatures will climb to around 50.

Meanwhile,  enjoy the weather today, bundle up tomorrow, while you prepare for the weekend weather.
