PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Governor Dan McKee announced Monday that the Independent Man will be coming down from the top of Rhode Island’s State House Tuesday morning.

Gov. McKee said the statue is set to make the move at 7 a.m. Tuesday, for the first time in nearly 50 years.

For the safety of both workers and the public, state officials said no foot traffic will be allowed on the State House plaza.

Helicopter and drone traffic over the State House will also be prohibited during this time.

Officials will also be holding a public unveiling of the Independent Man inside the State House later in the week.
