Indictment of mass shooting suspects ‘a warning’ to others, police say
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Providence police are calling the indictment of the six men connected to the Carolina Avenue gang-related mass shooting a warning for anyone looking to commit violent crime in the city.
“There are a lot of guns out there and people who are going to, intend to carry guns illegally, should realize there will be repercussions for their actions,” Maj. David Lapatin, with Providence Police Department, said.
George Rios (age 19), Ricardo Cosme Tejada (age 21), Reynaldo Rivera (age 19), Jordanny Britto (age 21), Daniel Carides (age 26) and David Carides Jr. (age 24) were all named in the indictment on Monday.
They’re accused of exchanging fire on Carolina Avenue in May. Nine people ended up in the hospital with injuries.
All of the men named in the indictment will be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court throughout the next two weeks.
