Loans, grants available to Cranston residents affected by September storms

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will hold an information session Monday for residents affected by the severe storms that occurred in September.
The session will be held at the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center at 1070 Cranston Street from 2-6 p.m.
SBA staff will be available to explain grants for homeowners and renters, and disaster loans for businesses, non-profits, homeowners and renters.
Residents will be able to speak with SBA staff one-on-one to answer their questions.
“I encourage all business owners and residents who were impacted by the storms to attend the workshop and take advantage of this opportunity to receive financial assistance,” Mayor Hopkins said.
Up to $2 million may be borrowed by businesses and non-profits to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate, inventory and equipment.
Disaster loans up to $500,000 are available for homeowners affected by the storms.
Homeowners or renters are also eligible for up to $100,000 in loans for personal property damaged or destroyed in the storms.
Residents not able to attend the session can visit sba.gov/disaster or call 800-659-2955 with questions or to locate a recovery center.
