It’s back to school for multiple Rhode Island and Massachusetts cities and towns

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — It’s a very exciting day in Southern New England, as students across our communities are sharpening their pencils, zipping their backpacks and heading out for the first day of school.

22 school districts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts will be welcoming students back to the classroom.

Here in the Ocean State, Pawtucket’s school district will be lead by Acting Superintendent Randy Buck.

Barrington is being led by Acting Superintendent Chris Ashley.

East Greenwich Public Schools voted in Dr. Thomas Kenworthy as their new superintendent.

And in Johnston, Scott Sutherland will now lead the school district as superintendent, as well.

Barrington, Burrillville, Central Falls, Chariho, Coventry and East Greenwich all start today.

Exeter, West Greenwich, Johnston, Little Compton and more are also opening their doors.

Providence also has an interim superintendent, Dr. Paula Dillon.

Dr. Javier Montanez is out on medical leave.

In the Bay State, Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fall River, and Fairhaven will be welcoming students, along with New Bedford, Seekonk, Somerset-Berkley and Swansea.
