It’s Official: Joe Biden has picked Gov. Gina Raimondo as his Commerce Secretary

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – We are learning tonight that President-Elect Joe Biden has picked Governor Raimondo to be his Commerce Secretary.
There has not been any comment from the Governor’s office. Lieutenant Governor McKee’s Office has directed all inquires to the Governor’s office.
Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea said in a statement tonight, “Biden clearly recognizes Raimondo’s experience and dedication to enhancing commerce and that she will serve the nation well in this role.”
Other delegation members are beginning to release statements regarding the nomination as well.
If Raimondo does take on the role, Lieutenant Governor McKee would take over and finish out the remaining two years of her term.
As of now the governor is scheduled to meet with the media tomorrow.
