Jennifer McCabe faces Karen Read defense team again to close out retrial for the week
DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — A key witness is back on the stand Friday in the murder retrial of Karen Read.
Jennifer McCabe will sit for cross examination from Read’s defense again.
McCabe is one of two people who accompanied Read to the Canton home where Boston police officer John O’Keefe’s body was found.
Defense attorney Alan Jackson probed McCabe on her relationships with the district attorney’s office.
McCabe admitted to meeting with prosecutors multiple times and watching her previous testimony.
She denies crafting her testimony to appear more favorable to the prosecution.
Friday in court, text messages from McCabe’s family group chat are being shared.
The texts were sent on the same day O’Keefe’s body was found and on the days following.
Kerry Roberts is the third person who was with Read and McCabe when O’Keefe’s body was found.
The texts read were from McCabe’s family group chat, referring to Roberts’ interview with police following O’Keefe’s death.
Jackson is also asking McCabe about her location from cell phone data on January 30, 2022, which includes stops at her own house, O’Keefe’s house and the canton home where O’Keefe’s body was found.
The home belongs to Canton police sergeant Michael Lenk.
McCabe claimed she, Roberts, and Lenk’s wife sat outside of the house for 45 minutes.
