PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The John Hope Settlement House will stay open for now.

Representatives from the daycare were in court Monday, fighting to keep the center open.

DCYF had revoked John Hope’s child care license back in February, claiming the daycare hired an employee who was unfit to be working in child care.

DCYF also says they hired another employee without a criminal background check.

A decision will be made May 9th on whether they will be able to stay open for good.

The center’s Board Chair Representative Anastasia Williams recently stepped down from her position.

The John Hope Settlement House services more than 150 kids in Providence and has been plagued with problems for years.
