It’s a little girls perfect day, makeup, dresses, and her very own princess photoshoot. But for 6-year-old Ella from Johnston, this day is even more special.
"It’s wonderful just to see her happy and not be a kid with cancer for a day" Ella’s mother Tracy Watters says.
In February Ella was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, flipping her world upside down and forcing her to leave school in order to get treatment. But one of her classmates stuck by her side, her best friend Emma.
"The teacher said to me, Ella found her person. Like this is her girl and they just became best friends" says Watters.
The two girls calling themselves soul sisters and when Ella was scared to lose her hair, Emma giving her the courage by shaving her own head.
"I just kept asking her, are you sure this is what you want to do? And she’s just been gung-ho, she just wants to help her friend anyway she can" says Emma’s mom Nicole Zielinski.
So when Ashley Richer, a photographer from Naragansett heard about the two girls, she knew she had to help. “I reached out to her mom and Ella’s been having a really hard time since she was diagnosed” says Richer.
Richer offering the girls a free princess and superhero photoshoot. Hoping to bring a little sunshine to some cloudy days.
‘I don’t even mind that I’m not making any money, I really don’t. It’s incredible to see them have a good time and actually smile" Richer says.
The girls getting the full princess treatment, a dream for Ella who hopes to be a princess when she grows up.
They even got to choose which princess they wanted to be, Ella choosing her favorite, Rapunzel. Her reason, a simple one; “Because she has really long hair” says Ella.
