PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a month long investigation, Rhode Island State Police have arrested a man they say managed an organized retail crime operation.
73-year-old Richard Tiberi, of Johnston, was charged with receiving stolen goods valued above $1,500, and soliciting another to commit a crime and conspiracy.
Police say Tiberi managed the operation from his home and the Decatur Social Club in Providence.
Organized retail crime involves the theft of retail merchandise to resell it for financial gain.
Authorities say surveillance footage showed him meeting with co-conspirators to purchase stolen items.
On Thursday after police searched his home and vehicle, Tiberi was arrested.
He was arraigned Friday in District Court and released after posting bail.
Tiberi’s attorney said he wouldn’t comment because he doesn’t discuss pending cases.
