Johnston man arrested twice in 2 weeks for DUI

Rhode Island State Police arrest a Johnston man on Thursday a second time for DUI in two weeks.

Police say on June 11th at 5:30 p.m. they received calls about a reckless driver on Route 146 North in North Smithfield.

Michael Vizzacco, 45, of Johnston was arrested after he allegedly showed signs of impairment following a sequence of field sobriety tests he submitted to.

Vizzacco was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks where he refused a breathalyzer test.

He was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and or Drugs and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test and arraigned in the Third Division District Court.

He was held as a bail violator and is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on June 25th.

Vizzacco allegedly struck a State Police cruiser on June 1st at 9:25 a.m. on Route 295 in Smithfield where he took field sobriety tests and demonstrated signs of impairment.

The Trooper suffered minor injuries, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and released. The vehicles sustained moderate damage.
