Johnston Police Department receives nearly half a million in federal funding

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — On Monday, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner and Mayor Polisena Jr. announced $485,000 in federal funding for the Johnston Police Department.

This nearly half a million in funding will be used for emergency services equipment to improve emergency response times and community safety.

State-of-the-art emergency equipment includes portable radio units, carbine patrol rifles, pole mounted speed measuring signs, and two vehicles for the Special Services Unit.

The Johnston Police Department serves over 30,000 residents and 850 businesses.

This federal funding is among 15 community project grants for Rhode Island’s FY 2024 federal budget.
