Johnston Police say 8-year-old taken to hospital after being hit by car
JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Johnston Police Department said an 8-year-old was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car Monday afternoon.
Around 3:22 p.m. police responded to reports of a child hit by a vehicle on School Street, near Thornton Elementary School.
Initial investigation showed the eight-year-old was on the crosswalk when they were hit by a Kia Soul.
The child was take to Hasbro Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
The 36-year-old old driver of the Kia Soul stayed on scene and cooperated, according to Johnston police.
Johnston police said the driver will be cited for motor vehicle violations and that there are no criminal charges pending.
The Johnston Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
