Judge Caprio sends off Providence College graduates over commencement weekend
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — It was commencement weekend for Providence College, and who better to wish the Friars well as they enter the real world than “America’s nicest judge.”
More than a thousand students got to hear from beloved Judge Frank Caprio, who served as this year’s commencement speaker at the AMP Saturday, reminding graduates to have a heart and show compassion for others.
Caprio was honored by college officials, who retired a jersey with his name on it, before entering what Judge Caprio’s son Frank Caprio, Jr. said is billed as the largest standing ovation in PC commencement history.
URI and Salve Regina also held their undergrad ceremonies this weekend.
So did Bryant University, who held its undergraduate commencement ceremony Saturday.
School officials said 646 students received their diplomas, taking part in the tradition of marching through the Bryant archway as part of their path forward.
The commencement address was delivered by venture capitalist David Beirne from the class of 1985.
