Jury deliberations begin for woman charged in 2022 deadly hit-and-run case

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Alicia Peckham trial could be coming to a close after just a week.

Peckham is one of the two suspects facing charges in the 2022 hit-and-run death of Olivia Passaretti.

Peckham’s case kicked off Monday morning, more than two years after a hit-and-run incident where her then-boyfriend Aramis Segura allegedly collided with Passaretti’s car on I-95 IN Warwick.

Peckham is facing charges of harboring a criminal, duty to stop at an accident resulting in death, obstructing an officer, and a common law felony.

Her defense has been working to argue that while she had lied to law enforcement initially, she was completely cooperative with their work and did not impede their efforts.

The State rested its case earlier this week after the jury heard from Rhode Island State Troopers as as the interview with police where Peckham admitted to lying and changing her story.

Both sides rested their case Thursday before an hour of deliberations.

A verdict could come today.

A pre-trial conference for Segura’s case is scheduled for later this month.
