JWU hosts wind turbine signing ceremony

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Johnson & Wales community held a wind turbine signing ceremony Saturday, in celebration of a wind turbine that will be erected and operational later on this year.

In attendance, were Governor Dan McKee, JWU Chancellor Mim Runey, LP.D., JWU Providence Campus President Marie Bernardo-Sousa, LP.D., JWU Vice President of Facilities Management Jason Witham, Green Development Founder Mark DePasquale, RI Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor and Providence City Councilman Pedro Espinal (Ward 10).

Green Development, Rhode Island’s largest onshore wind developer, Green Development, is working to construct three 1.5 MW turbines at the Port of Providence. One turbine will be placed on land of the ProvPort, and the other two will go on Johnson & Wales campus near the Harborside Campus athletic fields.
