Karen Read retrial judge denies defense request for trial delay
DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Karen Read returned to court Thursday for a hearing on several motions ahead of her second trial.
Judge Beverly Cannone denied the defense’s request to delay the start of the trial.
Cannone said if a jury is in place by April 25th, and the federal appeals court doesn’t issue a ruling on the defense’s request to drop two charges, she may revisit the request to delay the trial.
Read’s trial is scheduled to begin with jury selection on April 1.
Read is accused of hitting and killing her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe with her SUV.
