DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Karen Read’s defense will begin presenting their case Friday after the prosecution officially rested their case on Thursday.

In a half-day session, shortened because of a juror’s appointment, Special Prosecutor Hank Brennan ended his case showing the jury a clip of Read in a TV interview, in which she says she asked herself if she could have hit her boyfriend John O’Keefe.

According to Boston affiliate WCVB, there are 85 names on the defense’s list of potential witnesses.

It’s unknown how many witnesses Read’s defense team will call- and if Michael Proctor, the case’s lead investigator who was fired after last year’s trial, will be among them.

Read’s defense is ultimately expected to last for one to two weeks.
