WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The Kent County Courthouse will reopen Wednesday after the bitter cold temperatures wreaked havoc on the building’s pipes.

Officials say a substantial amount of water flowed into the entry way as well as the security screening area. In addition, parts of the ceiling were ripped out.

All hearings and trials were rescheduled, but emergency hearings were directed to Providence County.

As for the damage to the courthouse, the extent and cost of fixing it are still unclear.

Anyone who was arrested over the holiday weekend and were supposed to be arraigned Tuesday and did not get moved to Providence will be arraigned in Kent County Thursday.
