Killing of 17-year-old marks Providence’s eighth homicide this year

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A 17-year-old was killed in Providence Friday night.

Police said officers responded to the area of Dexter and Waldo streets just before 10 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died. His name was not released.

The incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.

This marked the city’s eighth homicide of the year.
