Lakeville Fire Department prevents fire from destroying home

LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WLNE) — The Lakeville Fire Department said it battled a house fire in Lakeville Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., crews responded to a home on Chrisjenn Brooke Lane.
At the scene, crews reported smoke coming from the home, and requested assistance from Freetown, Acushnet, Rochester, and Berkley.
Firefighters were able to stop the fire from inside and prevent it from destroying the home, according to Lakeville fire officials.
The occupant of the home was able to get herself out of the home, and has been provided temporary shelter.
The Red Cross was called in to assist with short term needs.
