Landscaper Sues City of Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) – A landscaping company has filed a lawsuit claiming the city of Pawtucket failed to put several city landscaping projects up for public bid.

D.M. Bruzzi Landscape Co. alleges in the suit filed Tuesday in Superior Court that city officials failed to submit for bidding some 46 purchase orders. The company's lawyer says the “no-bid”
orders totaled nearly $500,000.

The Providence Journal reports that Bruzzi alleges it was denied business opportunities.

The city, Parks and Recreation Superintendent William Mulholland, finance director Ronald Wunschel and director of purchasing Joseph Roque are named as defendants.

A city lawyer was unavailable for comment.
