Lanes on route 146 in North Smithfield to close for bridge construction

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The  Rhode Island Department of Transportation said it will close lanes on at the Route 146 intersection with Sayles Hill Road in North Smithfield on Saturday for construction of a new flyover bridge.

The closure will take place from 6 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

RIDOT said at least one lane of travel on each direction of Route 146 will be open during the construction, while Sayles Hill Road at Route 146 will be closed with signed detours in place.

The closure will allow workers to begin lifting steel beams as part of the new bridge construction.
