Last of the Hot Days

We made it! This is the last day of the heat wave. Yesterday we indeed topped out at 100 at the airport, making the heat wave official. Cool thing about hitting the 100 yesterday too, it broke the old daily record high of 94 from 1980 AND it was the first time we hit 100 in June since records have been kept. While today we will once again top out in the lower to mid-90s, this will be the end of the trend. A cold front will come through this afternoon with the chance of showers and even a thunderstorm. Temps will top out near 94 and with the high humidity, will feel like up to 100 degrees. As a result, we have a HEAT ADVISORY in effect for today. There is also an AIR QUALITY ALERT in effect for today as well. The break of the humidity comes with a catch as unsettled weather returns. There will be a chance of showers and occasionally thunderstorms starting with the cold front coming through late today. Temperatures drop by 20 degrees from today to tomorrow as sweet relief arrives. Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and a much cooler high of 74. Friday is looking to be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and highs near 69. The weekend is also looking unsettled with lots of clouds and the chance of showers and thunderstorms for Saturday and a chance of showers Sunday. High temps both weekend days will be in the loewr-70s. Seasonable temps in the 80s return for next week with partly sunny skies and highs near 85. Tuesday will have an added chance of showers and thunderstorms.
