Lawmakers meet Monday to review RIPTA data breach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Lawmakers will meet Monday to review the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority data breach, after the company noted a ‘privacy incident’ back in August that resulted in state employees’ personal data being stolen.

The hack that involved personal information of RIPTA’s health beneficiaries didn’t become public knowledge until last month.

Those affected by the breach were notified on December 21, and RIPTA says that they offered free credit monitoring services to those impacted.
