Lawrence Man killed in crash on Route 495 in Westford

WESTFORD, Mass (WLNE) – Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday night on Route 495 in Westford.

Troopers assigned to the Concord Barracks received a call for a three-car crash involving a tractor trailer on the northbound lanes of Route 495. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2012 Volkswagen EOS was driving northbound in the right lane of Route 495, while a Freightliner tractor-trailer was also heading northbound in the middle lane.

For unknown reasons, the Volkswagen struck the front right of the tractor trailer causing the trailer to exit the left side of the roadway, driving into the median. The trailer re-entered the roadway hitting a Toyota Tacoma. The driver of the Tacoma died at the scene. The driver is only identified as a 26-year-old man from Lawrence, Massachusetts.

The operators of the tractor-trailer and the Volkswagen were not injured.

Massachusetts State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
