Lincoln observes campaign that fights the darkness of Alzheimer’s on summer solstice

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Lighthouse at Lincoln participated in a campaign Tuesday that fights the darkness of Alzheimer’s disease on the day with the most sunlight.
Educational stations were set up at the memory care and assisted living community center for families of loved ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Rhode Island Lt. Gov Sabina Matos and town leaders spoke on caring for seniors and the importance of Alzheimer’s research. The observance focused on helping families stay positive as they navigate through the disease.
The observance was part of The Longest Day, a campaign centered around June 21, the day of the summer solstice.
The campaign is a worldwide fundraising mission for the disease.
