LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — A North Smithfield man was arrested Saturday on charges of DUI and carrying a firearm while impaired.

Robert Pinardi, 38, was observed stopping his Ford F-150 with heavily tinted windows in the middle of Summer Street and then performing a “burnout,” which created a large cloud of smoke.

Officers initiated a stop, but the vehicle then turned into the Cafe parking lot and attempted to unsuccessfully back into a parking space.

Pinardi was allegedly observed to have a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and displayed bloodshot eyes and a flushed red face.

Pinardi then failed field sobriety tests and was shown to be above the legal limit on a breath test.

Pinardi allegedly attempted to re-enter his vehicle despite repeated commands to stay away from it, and officers stopped him from getting into the truck.

A loaded semi-automatic handgun with eight rounds was found inside the truck by officers.
