Lincoln Police arrest wanted man after traffic stop

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Lincoln Police Department said it arrested a wanted man after a traffic stop on June 28.

25-year-old Emiliano Mendez was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of firearms by certain persons prohibited, possession of large capacity feeding devices prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of marijuana over one ounce, bench warrant – failure to appear, unlawful sunscreen material, leaving the lane of travel, time of signaling turn, and reasonable and prudent speeds.

Police said they Mendez was stopped around 5:15 p.m. for allegedly speeding in the Manville area.

During the stop, he was taken into custody due to having an active warrant out for his arrest.

The department said a search of Mendez’s vehicle allegedly found a “significant quantity” of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, including over 100 grams of marijuana, numerous pre-packaged marijuana products, THC edibles, psychedelic mushrooms, a digital scale, and a black Sig Sauer pistol with a high-capacity magazine containing 18 full metal jacket rounds and one hollow point round.
