LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — Lincoln police arrested a woman Sunday for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, crashing and causing a widespread power outage throughout the city.

Jennifer Masi, 41, of Cumberland was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and several other charges.

Police were called to the scene of the accident at the intersection of Commerce Street and Blackstone Valley Place at approximately 10:30 p.m. on July 14 after reports of a motor vehicle accident causing a downed power line.

Officers found an abandoned Toyota Highlander with heavy front-end damage and deployed airbags, and were told by witnesses that the driver, a white female, had fled the scene on foot in the direction of the Chet Nichols baseball field on Old River Road.

After a search of the area, police located a woman matching the description approximately 150 yards from the accident scene.

Masi allegedly displayed slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath.

She was transported to Landmark Medical Center for evaluation after her arrest.

Masi will appear in 3rd District Court on a later date.
