Linda Carman’s former attorney speaks out

Investigators executed a search warrant Thursday night at the Connecticut home of Linda Carman. She is presumed dead after a fishing trip with her son, Nathan Carman, went horribly wrong.
The 22-year-old was found floating on a life-raft on Sunday. He says he was a drift for days after the boat he was on with is mother went down. Speculation over what happened quickly turned his way. Authorities searched his Vermont home earlier in the week looking for evidence of reckless endangerment.
"I was absolutely shocked to see what the currently developments were,” said Linda Carman’s former attorney Gerald Klein.
As police work to investigate Linda Carman’s disappearance, attention has turned back to the unsolved murder of her father. It’s a case Klein is very familiar with.
We reported earlier this week that Nathan Carman was a suspect in his death, now we’ve learned that Linda Carman was as well.
"She was in an especially difficult situation because of the facts of the dismissed case,” said Klein.
The case Klein is referring to happened in 2011. Linda Carman was charged with elderly abuse after police say she assaulted her father getting into an argument over Nathan’s care and money.
"You have a lot of money being discussed you have a claim of assault over a person who was later murdered,” said Klein. “It doesn’t take you know Sherlock Holmes to figure out that the police are going to inquire of family members specifically one who was charged with an assault of the deceased."
The case of abuse against Linda Carman’s father was dropped. She did take a polygraph test regarding his murder and was not questioned further by police.
Klein says that Carman always insisted that Nathan had nothing to do with his murder as well.
When it comes to the boating incident, no charges have been filed as of yet.
