Lingering snow keeps golf course and campgrounds closed

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A golf course at a Rhode Island state park and two campgrounds won’t open on time because of lingering snow cover.
The Department of Environmental Management says the golf course at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick is not playable because snow is still on the course.
DEM staff will reassess the condition of the golf course in about two weeks to determine an opening date.
DEM says the George Washington State Campground in Glocester and Burlingame State Campground in Charlestown also won’t open on time because of the remaining snow cover, wet conditions, and the inability to provide potable water at the campgrounds.
The Glocester campground is expected to open April 18. The Charlestown campground is scheduled to open April 24.
