PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Temperatures in Southern New England could drop into the single digits by Friday night, and officials in Rhode Island are urging residents to take proper precautions.
In Providence, officials have released a list of warming centers available throughout the city.
Providence Warming Centers:
Davinci Center for Community Progress: 470 Charles Street — Mon – Fri: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
Federal Hill House: 9 Courtland Street — Mon – Fri: 6:30 AM – 6 PM.
Silver Lake Annex Multi-Purpose Community Center: 529 Plainfield Street — Mon – Fri: 6:30 AM – 5 PM.
Library Branches:
Fox Point Library: 90 Ives St — Mon: 9 AM – 5:30 PM, Tues: 1 PM – 8 PM, Wed – Fri: 1 PM – 6 PM.
Mt. Pleasant Library: 315 Academy Ave — Mon – Tues: 1 PM – 9 PM, Wed: 12 PM – 6 PM Thurs: 9:30 AM – 6 PM, Fri: 12 PM – 6 PM Sat: 10 AM – 6 PM.
Olneyville Library: 1 Olneyville Square — Mon: 1 PM – 6 PM, Tues: 9 AM – 5:30PM, Wed: 1 PM – 8 PM, Thurs – Fri: 1 PM – 6 PM.

Providence city officials say those affected by the cold or need assistance should call 311 or download the application for 24/7 submissions.
In addition, they are encouraging residents and businesses to sign up for “CodeRED” for up-to-date emergency notifications or download the application at providenceri.com.
Experts say in that sub zero temperatures frost bite and hypothermia are the biggest concerns.
