Local “Adopt-a-Senior” program working to combat social isolation for elderly

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – A local “Adopt-a-Senior” program is asking community members to write letters to senior citizens who are currently feeling isolated due to COVID-19.
“We all know that one of the best ways to keep seniors safe from COVID-19 is through social distancing, but it’s also important to ensure this does not lead to social isolation, as loneliness can lead to depression and severe health complications,” Home Instead Senior Care said in a statement.
Home Instead is asking notes and letters to be emailed, which will then be printed, put in cards, and safely delivered to seniors in the area who feel isolated due to COVID-19.
All letters and notes should be emailed to MarissaLangevin14@gmail.com.
