Local businesses hope for exciting New Years Eve

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- As COVID cases continue to rise in Rhode Island, local businesses are still preparing for New Years Eve celebrations.

Despite record numbers and mandates in place, Rick Simone, President of the Federal Hill Commerce Association, explained to ABC6 News that a majority of businesses are hoping to have good business on the holiday.

“I think that people may not jump to as many places as they normally would, they might go to one or two places instead of three or four in the given night but I think it going to be a great night and people are going to be in a celebratory mood.”

Businesses on Federal Hill, like Trattoria Zooma, will have precautions like social distancing in place and mask, and hand sanitizer available for their guests.

Reservations are filling up, a sign of celebration, and spots are still available for those searching.
