No. Kingstown, R.I.- Hope Valley Industries in North Kingstown, a car mat manufacturer, is getting a national award for going above and beyond for one of its employees.

That employee is 32–year–old Edward Joseph Marotta, a single dad who fought for our country and came home injured. The company’s CEO gave Marotta promotions while he was deployed and made sure his 13–year–old son was financially ok.  He even put him through school to learn another aspect of the business, since his injury didn’t allow him to lift heavy equipment.

Hope Valley Industries is just one of 15 employers to receive the national honor by the department of defense.

Only three other Rhode Island companies have been selected for this award in the past 20 years. Citizens bank, Cardi’s and CVS.
