FALL RIVER, MASS. (WLNE) – It’s a big night for Fall River filmmaker Robert Manuels. His fifth and newest movie, “The Old Ranch,” is premiering at the Picture Show movie theater in Fall River, to a sold out audience.
Manuels says, “It’s a dark and gritty movie, but I think it’ll put a scare into the audience, and it’ll be, I think, suspenseful and just fun. I can’t wait until tonight.”
The movie was shot entirely in Fall River, using all local actors. It takes place in the fictional town of “Brayton,” Massachusetts. The story is centered around an abandoned house.
Manuels says, “A couple of couples go there and they camp out, and some bad things happen. And then the Brayton Police Department gets involved, and they’re dumbfounded with the events that take place at this house.”
Manuels says it was the opportunity of the lifetime to shoot some of the scenes at that particular house.
Manuels says, “We had a chance to film in an abandoned house that really was about to be knocked down, so I wrote a screenplay to fit the house, to take advantage of a great opportunity.”
He hopes the film makes it into some film festivals. In the meantime, if you didn’t have tickets for Wednesday night’s show, there will be another screening in two weeks on November 13th.
Manuels says, “I think you’ll have a lot of fun, and you’ll get to see Fall River on the big screen.”
