It was a meeting of the minds here with Liberian leaders, the Alliance for Safe Communities, and several congressional candidates.

Many in these groups are angry saying Rhode Island‘s leaders haven’t done enough to ensure the safety and comfort of Liberians.

Emphasizing that more than 4,500 people have already died from the virus, the group stressed the local Liberian association’s two big requests.

First, that a facility be put in place for Liberians traveling to Rhode Island to be held for a number of days and tested for the virus before joining family or friends in their homes.

Second, for the federal government to have every home in Liberia have at least one bio-containment suit.

The Liberian leaders are also calling upon politicians to protect local community members from being targeted or stereotyped because of Ebola fears.

They say Liberians have had a history of providing many medical services to the Rhode Island community and should not be treated any differently now.
