Local officials, officers honor Warwick cop for heroic actions

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A group of elected officials and police officers are gathering on Wednesday to honor Warwick police captain Charles Boisseau for his actions upon witnessing a house fire.

Boisseau reportedly was heading home on Saturday night after his shift when he saw a fire in a trash can in Cranston.

From there, he jumped out of his car and banged on the front door of the house the trash can was in front of, alerting the family, who was still asleep.

As the fire spread, Boisseau and the homeowner helped save a woman and three children who were inside the home.

Speaker of the House Joe Shekarchi, Warwick mayor Frank Picozzi, Cranston mayor Ken Hopkins, Warwick Police Colonel Michael Lima and Cranston Police Colonel Michael Winquist will be speaking at a press conference honoring Boisseau and his actions in front of Warwick Police Headquarters in Apponaug.
