Local police warn parents about TikTok’s destructive ‘Chromebook challenge’

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — A local police department is ae warning parents about a new TikTok trend that’s encouraging students to destroy property.

Cumberland police posted on Facebook warning about the “Chromebook challenge.”

Police said  it encourages students to try and take apart or short-circuit school-issued Chromebooks.

The amateur hot-wiring could lead to fires and electrical shock.

It could also lead to disciplinary action at school as well as a big bill to replace it.

Police are asking parents to talk with their kids about the trend.
