Local Runners On High Alert

By: Liz Tufts

The murders of two young women out jogging in  Massachusetts and New York is sending shock waves through the running community.

Even though police are saying the cases are not connected, a local running club is being extra cautious.

The group Rhode Runner is urging women to run in pairs, always tell someone where they are running and try to carry a cell phone with them.

Karina Vetrano was strangled while jogging in Hward beach in New York last week.

Vanessa Marcotte was killed a few days later after going for a run near her mother’s home in Princeton, Mass.

No arrests have been made in either case.
