Local Trump supporters pleased with first debate

Around 70 Republicans gathered at the Marriott in Providence for a Donald Trump watch party Monday night. Those supporters that ABC 6 News spoke with were very pleased with how the GOP nominee performed.

“He’s got a very strong message on security in this country,” said GOP Chairman Brandon Bell. “He’s got a very strong message about law enforcement, about how to handle ISIS. While we might not know all the specifics that’s why he is so popular. He projects being very strong."

"I think that he’s held his own in this debate tonight and that’s what the American public was looking for in terms of can he hold his politically and policy wise and not go off unhinged,” said one Trump supporter. “And, I think he has been able to do that and get in his little points about Clintons escapades."

As expected there were a lot of cheers for Trump and grumbles and moans for Clinton during the 90 minute show down.

There was a lot of reaction during those little confrontations between the two candidates; especially when it came to the back and forth between Trump releasing his tax returns and Clinton releasing her emails.

Overall reaction from this watch party was positive. Now,  these supporters now looking ahead to the next debate.
