Lombardi Trophy is Back Home at Patriot’s Gillette Stadium

It was a “picture perfect” day for New England Patriot’s fans.

Hundreds lined up to see the team’s 4th Lombardi Trophy for winning the Super Bowl, posing for photos and soaking it all in.

“This one’s special, I mean the first one was great, but this one – with all the stuff that went on the last two weeks – I think this one has a special place in a lot of people’s hearts,” said Andrew Martin, a Patriot’s fan.

And with a 14 year legacy now, the Pat’s fan’s came in multiple generations.

Lou Normand of Warwick brought his two year old grandson Jackson, who seemed more interested in other things, than touching the Lombardi trophy.

“We had to come here for the day, especially with our grand son Jackson…

“Oh I think it’s great, this is the first time we’ve been able to see the trophy,” said Lou Normand (as his grandson kept bragging for our ABC6 microphone).

ABC6 Reporter Mark Curtis said, “Well by the gloves I’m wearing, you can probably tell I am a Green Bay Packer fan.  (boos!!!)

But still it’s a great thrill to stand here with the Patriot’s fourth Lombardi Trophy. (Yay!!!!)

“I think it’s amazing, 4!!!!” said one young fan.

The Waugh family from North Attleboro was here too, including 3–year daughter Peyton.

Curtis Question: “Her name’s Peyton, she’s not named after Peyton Manning is she?

“Absolutely not, absolutely not! No way!” said her mom Pamela Waugh.

Curtis Question: She’s a Pats fan?

“Yes, she is, right Peyton?” said Mrs. Waugh

Hundreds braved the cold to see the trophy up close, and the Patriots warmed them up with hot chocolate.

“Very excited, oh extremely excited! We wish we could have gone to the parade, but too many people!” said Caroline and Richard Hughes of Bristol, Rhode Island.

The Lombardi Trophy is on display in The Hall at Patriot Place, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
