Long gas lines as Floridians fill up before Hurricane Milton hits

HAINES CITY, Fla. (WLE) — As people in central Florida wait for Hurricane Milton to come to shore, they hurried to make all the last minute preparations they possibly could.

In Haines City in Polk County, there were long lines at one of the last opened gas stations.

One local spent nearly 45 minutes searching for gas.

“But everything else, I’m already prepared for and ready to go with the storm,” Johnny Burke said. “Just be safe, that’s it. Tell everybody be safe, that’s it. That’s all we can do.”

There was also a small disagreement between customers earlier in the morning, with police remaining on site to help the employees ensure order.
